Ever wonder how shoegaze has had a comeback Lazulis?

Shoegaze has always felt like a dream you can step into, all haze, distortion, and emotion bleeding into each other. I fell in love with that sound the first time I heard Wisp, the feeling of losing yourself inside layers of quiet vocals and distorted guitar. I discovered Shoegaze because Gen Z is reinventing it for a digital world. We’re not just recreating the classics; we’re reshaping them with laptops, plugins, and bringing it back alive.
For me, that process often starts with my guitar, when I have a riff or chord idea. I'll improvise lyrics over the chords until I settle on the perfect metaphor or lyrics. Then comes FL Studio; I record my guitar and layer on distortion and reverb with digital amps, eventually adding in multiple layers of guitar (2 to 4 parts!), something that wouldn't be possible I were a band, and produce myself the bass and drum parts (sometimes piano) by using digital plugins. I love the tension between analog warmth and digital precision...it’s like nostalgia meeting the future in real time.
The beauty of this era is accessibility. I don’t need a massive studio to build a wall of sound; I can do it in my bedroom with a decent mic and my laptop. That freedom lets me make music that otherwise wouldn't be possible without a band.
Shoegaze was popular in the 2010s, but now the new generations discovering those sounds wants to make their own, and that is what keeps the genre alive, thriving, and growing.
It’s the blur between clarity and chaos, emotion and escape. And as Gen Z continues to push it forward, I think we’re proving that the genre’s not stuck in the past. It’s evolving in the digital age.
