My stagename is SonderJewlz, and my name is Juliana Tong.
I am a new Indie-rock singer/songwriter with inspirations from Arctic Monkeys, Vacations, Cigarettes After Sex, Wisp, Glare, and Whirr.
I am a senior in highschool now, and I have loved singing since I was young. I discovered the electric guitar and fell in love, eventually leading me to experiment with music production and composition.
My latest album "Sincerely, Sonder" is now released - a mix of soft indie rock and shoegaze, all composed, produced, recorded, and mixed by myself.
On the side, I also record lifestyle vlogs and ASMR videos.
About Sincerely, Sonder
The first band to inspire me to produce were the Arctic Monkeys,
a band that creates their own sound, unforgivingly.
The Arctic Monkeys brought me into the world of indie rock,
a type of rock that was sweet and soft all while still having a head banging, heavy sound.
My first song I wrote, "Sweet Dreams", was inspired by their most famous song, "505".
I wanted to capture the same feelings of a tension building before the beat drop, and layers of guitar with reverb.
Eventually I started experimenting with the indie rock sound, and found my way to "Your Face" by Wisp.
The grunge, distortion, and vocals soft as a whisper immidietly encapsulated me.
I went on to create the song "New Person", with inspiration from "Your Face". After discovering Wisp, I started to dive deeper into more artists in the shoegaze genre, listening to Whirr, Glare, and more. My album "Sincerely Sonder" is a timeline of songs I have created with inspirations from many different artists, a blend of softer indie rock and heavier shoegaze.
